17. júní - án rigningar - garðvinna

So I used the opportunity to do some garden-work, since there was no rain. Everybody else finish their garden clean-up before this day, but not me. We got up at a reasonable time and drove to town to see what was going on. Free breakfast at the school. Good idea. I like that. Then we drove to one of my fathers forestry-places to see how the trees grow. He always did that on 17th of June, so we made that into a tradition. Trees are doing fine. Global warming. Good so far. Then there was nap time. A person who stays up at night writing blogs has to sleep during the day. Everybody understands that . Also I was just generally tired. Then somebody came and I woke up and tried to convert my nap to sunbathing in the garden. Too cold. Not enough global warming yet. Lawnmowing was next. Dandelions have gone to seed. I like dandelions. I don't understand why the mayor of Hvolsvöllur has decided to go to war against these pretty flowers. They do no harm, and they are edible. I hear that the French use them in salads. My cows like them too. There are others I have declared war against: Tvítönn og sigurskúfur. Lamium og chamaenerion angustifolium. (Latin for uncle Gerry). They kill everything around them - except maybe Archangelica. I'm running a test in my garden to see if Angelica will overcome these invaders. I believe the tvítönn will be dead in a few years and I hope I will be able to stop the expansion of sigurskúfur. Sigurskúfur scored a few points though, when I read that it was edible and should be used as asparagus, and bees like it. I still have not tested that strange food and I put the bee idea on hold when my friend Dögg declared she would stop visiting me if I was going to keep bees. I like Dögg. But I have not found one good reason to like sigurskúfur. Can anyone out there give me one? Has anybody tasted it? Is it cow-food?

Then another thing. Why do people want to kill moss in their gardens? What is wrong with moss? I like moss. It is soft and nice. I would plant moss in my garden instead of grass.

 Sæl Guðrún.

Til hamingju með framtak þitt. Nú verður mun auðveldara að fylgjast með þér.

Ég ákvað að svara þessari ágætu grein á íslensku enda einskær málverndunarsinni þegar ég man eftir því.
